The course was organized by the collaboration of Istanbul Medical School, Department of Surgery, Emergency Surgery Service and Turkish Association for Trauma & Emergency Surgery (TATES) at Topkapi Eresin Hotel, Istanbul during April 13-14, 2001.

Lectures or panel talks were given by 26 experts in surgery, internal medicine, radiology, anesthesiology, urology gave lectures and talks. There were 10 moderators who are among the pioneers on this field in Turkey. The course was attended by almost 250 participants.
